The Vili of the Loango coast are a Kongo people whose carvers produced some of the most refined nkisi nkondi power figures and minkisi: naturalistic faces with heavy-lidded eyes, parted lips and akimbo or gesturing arms, the bodies charged with nails, blades and medicinal bundles by the nganga.
